Transport Overview & News

Overview

We have a dedicated fleet that consists of 14 x 8 wheelers, 4 artic blowers, 9 tipping trailers and 2 bag lorries. We cover a wide delivery area from the North of Scotland, Argyll and Bute, Campbeltown and everything South of the mill to the A66 covering, Kirkby Stephen, Keswick, Workington, Bernard Castle etc. We deliver around 95% of our own products, where the other 5% is delivered by approved road hauliers.

Our vehicles are washed after each delivery using an authorised disinfectant, each vehicle has a dedicated driver who is responsible for the cleanliness of the cab; the majority of the drivers take a great pride in the appearance of their vehicle and ensure they are kept to a very high standard. As we are covered by the AIC code of practice, our transport records and vehicles are inspected by auditors for cleaning and maintenance. he vehicle maintenance is carried out by a full time-served mechanic and full time trainee mechanic.

The fleet are all fitted with a Dynafleet tracker system, that updates every 15 minutes and shows the transport staff, driving times, rest periods and locations. This information is then used to schedule deliveries. All the fleet drivers have digital tacho cards that are downloaded to the FTA on a regular basis. Each vehicle has an easy sheet to cover the products to be delivered, thus the sheet is water proof and prevents any contamination.

We have a skeleton staff during the summer months and reliable seasonal staff for our busy period. All our fleet drivers have been trained in health and safety, blowing and tipping techniques, daily inspections and are fully competent drivers.
